Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton, Florida is seeking a tenure-track Associate Professor for a joint appointment in the Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute and the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, with their laboratory housed in the Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute facility on the FAU Jupiter campus.

Teaching Responsibilities – This position may include, but not limited to, teaching upper level undergraduate and graduate courses in biochemistry and neuroscience, developing new courses in chemical biology, neurochemistry, and neurodegenerative disease research, and mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students in research.

Research/Scholarship Responsibilities – Apply for extramural grants related to his/her research expertise with a particular emphasis on the molecular and cellular basis of neurodegenerative diseases.

Candidates oriented toward the study of Huntington’s disease mechanisms and with a particular focus on ribosomal control of protein synthesis affected by the disorder, and/or transcellular transport of brain molecules will be prioritized.

Suitable applicants will be expected to have a strong history of publications in leading journals and significant external funding.

Service Responsibilities – Serve on Institute, Department, College, and University committees as requested, and serve on professional (external) committees related to his/her field of expertise.
