Job Description

Our Manufacturing Operations teams are the people that make our products. We work in the manufacturing plants with a “Safety First, Quality Always” mindset striving for continuous improvement. We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

The shift supervisor is a critical position to ensure the overall success of operations. Working closely with operators, the supervisor leads, coaches & monitors their team to maximize productivity and achieve department objectives. Leads and develops people and ensures safety and environmental requirements. Collaborates with different departments as well to ensure a smooth plan execution, and collectively solve operational issues.

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Adheres to company’s business practices/ethics policies and Environment, Health, and Safety standards.

  • Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff, organizing, and monitoring work processes and coordinating Team’s activities in production. Training operators and track progress.

  • Ensures production schedule is followed, and production priorities are achieved by employees.

  • Sets priorities for operators, monitor attendance, productivity, and training to meet production goals.

  • Talent management such us compensation planning, performance evaluation and talent growth framework.

  • Responsible for time and attendance records in ADP, approve timecards for payroll, track vacation, sick leave, and any other employee leave approved by Sedgwick and using correct pay code.

  • Controls and plans employee overtime.

  • Works with employee relations to issue disciplinary actions, making sure employees adhere to company policies.

  • Works closely with other departments to drive continuous improvement activities to produce quality products for our customers.

  • Produces a daily report of shift production output and identify and address inefficiencies.

  • Maintain Tier Board and KPI dashboard activities and reporting.

  • Works closely with the technicians and reports any machine issues to request the prompt machine repair to accomplish production goals.

  • Leads daily meetings with direct reports to discuss safety, production, and company policies.

  • Leads monthly safety meetings with direct reports and promotes “Safety First” culture. Drives vision on safety by taking action to report unsafe processes or issues, completing incident/accident reports, and shares the findings within the department to promote continuous improvement regarding safety.

  • Root Cause Analysis.

  • Responsible for driving and implementing the company ways of working.

  • Supports the diversity and inclusion strategies by promoting this culture within the team and during the hiring process.

  • Implement strategies to improve performance of employees as well as effectiveness, engagement, accuracy and efficiency.

  • Provide mentoring guidance to all subordinates, management or otherwise, across all aspects of their job function.

  • Support the development of best practices, including completion of annual appraisals, individual development plans and succession planning.

  • Evaluates the internal performance for all aspects of production and fulfillment operations and drives continuous improvement.

  • Provides effective leadership to first line leadership with regard to performance management, skills development, attendance, communication and recognition.

Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

  • Five (5)+ years of experience in manufacturing, distribution, operations environment.

  • One (1)+ years of demonstrated experience leading / supervising teams.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, Excel knowledge required.

  • Experience with enterprise resource planning systems, 2 years of experience with SAP a plus.
