About the role

The Role:

This is an exciting role and a critical member of the R&D Financial Planning and Analysis team, supporting a dynamic and high growth organization that is radically changing the biotech industry. This position will serve as a business partner to the Clinical Development organization and our Oncology Therapeutic Area organization to support a growing portfolio of Development candidates. This position will partner with program leaders in the Oncology Therapeutic organization and operational leaders within Clinical Development to lead and manage annual operating budgets and forecasts, provide support for collaboration budgeting and reporting, ad-hoc operational or strategic decision-making support, month-end close and management reporting activities, long-range planning, and portfolio management process for new development candidates.

The ideal candidate would have experience in managing clinical trial forecasting and budgeting and have extensive experience building and maintaining dynamic financial models. The candidate will ideally have experience in managing through matrixed organizations and have extensive experience driving continuous improvements in financial and operational processes.

This role, based in Cambridge, MA, and reporting to the Executive Director FP&A for R&D, will be an onsite position at least 70% of the time, reflecting our commitment to fostering a collaborative environment that encourages collective action and impactful results.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

Financial Planning/Decision Analysis:

  • Understanding Financial Needs and Drivers: Apply the mindset of acting with urgency to grasp the financial intricacies of the Oncology Therapeutic area and Clinical Development organization. Your insights will have a direct impact on operational efficiency and strategic financial support.

  • Leading Annual Budgets and Forecasts: Showcase the mindset of pursuing options in parallel by managing comprehensive financial planning, enabling informed decision-making as projects evolve.

  • Finance Lead for External Partnerships/Collaborations: Embrace the ethos of accepting risk as the only path to impact, guiding financial partnerships and collaborations with a strategic, risk-aware approach.

  • Managing Clinical Trial Models/Framework: Demonstrating the mindset of obsessing over learning, you'll continuously update and refine clinical trial models to reflect the latest data and forecasts.

  • Supporting Business Case Analysis: Align with the mindset of pivoting fearlessly in response to new data, providing analytical support for emerging programs and governance processes.

Reporting:

  • Management Reporting for Oncology: Utilize the mindset of questioning convention to lead monthly reporting, offering novel insights that challenge traditional views and improve budget management.

  • Partnering for Consistent Reporting Views: Reflect the mindset of pushing past possible by collaborating with various departments to achieve unified and innovative reporting strategies.

  • Developing Robust Reporting Processes: In line with the mindset of behaving like owners, develop and refine reporting processes for collaboration frameworks, ensuring accuracy and accountability.

  • Identifying Reporting Needs and Improvements: Showcase the mindset of acting with dynamic range by proactively seeking ways to enhance reporting for corporate exercises and monthly accruals.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in finance or accounting required

  • 8+ years of experience in biotech and/or pharma industry with experience supporting a clinical development organization and portfolio of clinical trials

  • Experience building and maintaining robust & dynamic financial models

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA is a plus

  • Proven track record of building efficiencies and automation into existing and new process

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details; ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written). 

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills;

  • Experience with tier 1 ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and associated planning and reporting tools preferred.
