Manager, Accounting

Position Summary

The Manager of Accounting will own the monthly close, annual financial audit, financial systems administration, billing, accounts payable (AP), and guide the executive team on technical accounting matters. This role will lead continuous improvement of the accounting function and mentor staff as we build the business.

Responsibilities  

• Drive financial close and reconciliation process, including preparation of accruals and partnering with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team on reclasses and journal entries, auditing and integrating payroll with Human Resources
• Manage leases, payroll accounting, and shared savings / capitation contracts, partner with the IT team on capitalized software accounting
• Create and update documentation related to departmental processes, standard operating procedures (SOP’s) that include and support service level agreements (SLA’s) ensuring best practices and making recommendations for improvements to leadership team(s)
• Drive logistics of the annual financial audit and provide information to tax partners for all filings
• Manage billing and work with account managers on new client setup
• Oversight and review of Accounts Payable (AP) function including new vendor set-up. Collaborate with Payroll to prepare annual form 1099s
• Systems administration for banking, expense reimbursement, General Ledger GL using systems such as Intacct, Workday, and Airbase 
• Create and support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and analysis
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field degree
• At least 6 years of experience in accounting with preference for public accounting, healthcare or high growth technology startups using GAAP and auditing principals 
• Strong technical accounting skills and demonstrated application of accounting for complex topics including revenue recognition, software capitalization, and leases are required
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required
• Health plan or health system experience preferred
• Experience working with Private Equity (PE) or Venture Capital (VC) backing a plus
