Software Engineer (Stealth Predictive Maintenance SaaS startup)

Company Overview:UP.Labs is seeking a junior to mid level software engineer to join the founding team. You’ll work alongside data scientists, product managers, and aviation experts to build production-ready tools that automate and optimize critical operational workflows for a rapidly scaling SaaS startup focused on aircraft maintenance planning. This role is based in Austin, Texas!
Role Overview

• Collaborate with data scientists and product teams to build user-facing tools and backend systems that power predictive maintenance and scheduling
• Develop scalable, maintainable code across the stack (primarily Python + cloud infrastructure)
• Help deploy, monitor, and maintain ML models in production settings
• Write unit/integration tests and follow best practices for software engineering and DevOps
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to system architecture
• Support early customer pilots and help shape product direction based on feedback

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Comfortable working with APIs, backend services, and basic frontend tools (React, Flask, or similar frameworks)
• Strong interest in data systems, ML infrastructure, and/or aviation technology
• Curious, collaborative, and eager to learn—especially in fast-moving startup environments
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), or database design is a plus, but not required
