Position Overview:
The Sr Fit Specialist / Sr Pattern Maker – Outerwear & Woven Apparel is responsible for translating design intent into initial patterns that meet Canada Goose’s luxury creative direction.
This position plays a pivotal role in the early stages of product development collaborating in real-time with Design and Product Development to deliver initial patterns to sample rooms and ateliers with craftsmanship and precision.
The Fit Specialist is accountable for fit accuracy, pattern integrity, and ensuring a consistent luxury fit experience.
About The Role:
First Pattern Creation & Category Expertise
- Own the development of first patterns for both outerwear (e.g., parkas, bombers, shells) and woven apparel (e.g., shirts, trousers, dresses, tailored garments).
- Translate complex design sketches and creative intent into first initial patterns for prototyping.
- Ensure patterns support consistent sizing, luxury fit standards, and precise construction requirements across product categories.
Collaborative Product Creation
- Attend real-time, in-person (IRL) concept sessions where Design, Product Development, and Global Fit jointly kick off new styles.
- Work in parallel with Product Development: while PD builds out the tech pack (technical sketches, BOMs, specs), you create the corresponding pattern.
- Participate in early vendor or atelier hand-offs, ensuring patterns are aligned and complete for prototype development.
Fit Reviews & Iteration
- Participate in fittings for both outerwear and woven apparel on live models; analyze fit, proportion, mobility, function and construction integrity.
- Provide actionable, detailed feedback on pattern revisions. If major changes are required, remake and adjust pattern.
- Partner with internal sample makers and external vendors to ensure construction and finishing meet the highest standards of craftmanship, precision, and quality.
Consistency, Innovation & Process
- Ensure fit consistency and grading accuracy through adherence to established Global Fit libraries, blocks, and POMs.
- Support seasonal fit reviews and provide category-specific insights to inform product evolution.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in fit strategy, fit blocks/library, and workflow optimization—including 3D adoption (e.g., CLO) where applicable.
About You:
Experience & Education:
- 5+ years of pattern making experience across outerwear and woven apparel in a luxury, or technical apparel brand.
- Experience collaborating with Creative Directors and Designers to translate conceptual ideas into patterns.
- Certificate or degree in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Technical Design, or a related field.
- Proficient in Gerber Accumark (or equivalent CAD software); e
