Your key responsibilities:
•    Work with a small team to design and implement cell-based assays that characterize the interactions of small molecules and proteins
•    Use understanding of molecular biology and cell biology to identify gaps and iteratively improve existing methodologies
•    Continuously assess external advancements to maintain dsm-firmenich capabilities at the forefront of innovation
•    Analyse, interpret and communicate data in cross-functional teams
•    Amplify your contribution by building a holistic knowledge of olfactory neuroscience and the consumer fragrance landscape
•    Contribute enthusiastically to a progressive scientific culture particularly through humility, transparency, and implementation of modern practices including automation, computational data analysis, and use of artificial intelligence

 

This position is eligible for the dsm-firmenich Hybrid Working model, spending 4 days per week in the New York office and the balance of the work week in a home office.

You bring
•    BS in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Cellular or Molecular Biology or related field with demonstrated laboratory experience. 
•    1+ years of experience in industry R&D laboratory including internships.
•    Core technical competencies in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, pharmacology, cell biology, or related fields including mammalian cell culture, plasmid design, genetic engineering, cell-based assays, and receptor-focused work
•    Highly competitive candidates will have experiences with custom assay development, cell line engineering, transfection, signalling pathway analysis, G protein-coupled receptors, high-throughput screening, any -omics workflows, structural biology, protein expression, or drug development workflows
•    Basic data analysis methodologies and familiarity with tools including but not limited to R, Python, or GraphPad Prism. Advantageous experiences include data management and advanced statistics.
•    Demonstrated ability to use general laboratory equipment including fume hoods, plate readers, and liquid handlers. Advantageous experiences include those with advanced equipment including but not limited to high content imaging, flow cytometry, spectroscopy, automated robotic systems, and confocal microscopy
•    A willingness to try new things, learn from mistakes, and be comfortable with flexibility during sprints while maintaining optimism and vision for the long-term goals
•    A curiosity to understand how the sense of smell works and the technical innovations that lie underneath the aromas the world smells daily
