Position Summary:
The Lab Director oversees all operational aspects of the laboratory, with a focus on productivity, quality assurance, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. This leadership role ensures the laboratory operates at peak performance to support client needs and regulatory standards.
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am -4:30pm, Flexibility with schedule to ensure effective business support.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Plan, organize, and direct laboratory operations to meet client requirements and achieve organizational goals.
- Develop and implement productivity benchmarks, cost-control measures, and strategic initiatives for operational efficiency.
- Evaluate and enhance laboratory workflows, ensuring alignment with compliance and quality standards.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure strict adherence to CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory and safety standards.
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures to reflect best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Operational Oversight:
- Monitor laboratory performance, including the physical environment, equipment needs, and supply chain management.
- Collaborate with technical staff to assess and implement new equipment and automation technologies.
- Manage the calibration and verification of assays and ensure processes align with quality and operational goals.
- Team Development:
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of supervisors and lead technologists through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Conduct annual competency reviews to ensure staff meet performance expectations and compliance requirements.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation within the laboratory team.
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a primary liaison between the laboratory and client leadership, ensuring clear communication and alignment with expectations.
- Maintain strong customer-focused relationships, resolving operational issues proactively and effectively.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related life science with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in a related life science with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Certifications:
- ASCP, AMT, or equivalent laboratory certification required.
- Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience in high-volume, hospital-based laboratory settings.
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and state-specific regulations.
- Familiarity with laboratory QA processes, calibration, and verification of assays.
- Proficient in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated success in coaching and developing both technical and non-technical staff.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making.
- Experience managing laboratory operations across multiple locations preferred.
