What you will be doing as a Sheet Metal Technician:

In this role, you can expect to fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment for general aviation aircraft. You'll set up and operate fabricating machines, shape metal using various tools, and join parts with soldering and welding equipment. Your expertise will ensure seamless and smooth joints and surfaces.

Your responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  •  Project Planning: Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences, and methods using blueprints and instructions
  •  Sheet Metal Layout: Lay out and alter sheet metal parts based on blueprints, drawings, and instructions
  •  Riveting and Removal: Perform rivet and sheet metal component removal, and install solid and blind rivets with various tools including rivet guns and squeeze tools
  •  Metal Fabrication: Bend, form, and drill various metals, ensuring precise fabrication of parts
  • Hole Preparation: Set up for countersinking, dimpling, and deburring holes and cut lines

What you need to be successful:

 High School education, GED, or a Bronze Level WorkKeys certification is required

  A minimum 2 years of diversified aviation sheet metal experience is required

 Familiarity with FAA AC 43. 13-1B and aircraft structure repair manuals is helpful

 Skills in identifying types of corrosions and corrosion removal procedures are helpful

 Knowledge of the application and removal of wash etch and alodine material is helpful

 Experience in applying primer is helpful

 Ability to identify rivets, bolts, screw, nuts and washer is helpful
