The Senior Specialist will primarily be responsible for the maintenance and improvement in processes and technologies supporting the Financial Accounting and Planning & Analysis teams within the Finance organization. This role works closely with these teams to effectively gather and understand requirements, manage, and implement changes to Workday Financials and other directly related financial systems to drive efficiencies and resolve issues.

Essential Key Responsibilities

  • Lead collaboration with the functional leads of Workday Financial functions (Suppliers, Customers, Business Assets, Procurement, Banking, Projects, General Ledger) with a focus on Financial Accounting to analyze, design, develop, test and implement foundational data, business process, reports and other configuration required to enhance and maintain the system and resolve issues, in coordination with the Financial Systems & Transformation team.
  • Document and validate business requirements with end-users and model solutions for complex business requirements to be addressed with automated solutions.
  • Perform day to day Workday maintenance functions, including trouble shooting with prompt issue resolutions.
  • Lead and manage the foundational data in Workday, which includes maintaining proper controls over the creation of data, setting up hierarchies, and ensuring data has the appropriate attributes.
  • Design, build, test and deploy Workday reports using Matrix, Advanced and Composite reporting, including the use of Workday Worksheets as needed, in collaboration with less experienced team members.
  • Work proactively with the various teams to identify/define top-quality deliverables, potential risks and issues that may impact the outcomes along with process improvement opportunities, including Workday releases and updates.
  • Act as the lead specialist on Project related tasks to implement, test and configure workday for specific functional areas processes. Lead sessions and configuration workshops.
  • Lead walk throughs with SOX and Audit teams on functional processes for each functional module.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality to protect employee and financial data privacy.
  • Share knowledge on leading practices in Workday and new learnings with other team members.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required with 8-12 years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree preferred

Essential Skills and/or Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Workday Financials with demonstrated success. Supporting Day to Day operations in Suppliers, Customer, Business Assets, Procurement, Projects, and General Ledger. Experience should include managing foundational data and business process configurations, including report writing. Experience with Workday business process, security and tenant-wide configurations is required.
  • Knowledge of financial consolidation & reporting and financial planning & analysis is required.
  • Finance and SOX/Audit concepts are a must.
  • Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office products, including Access and SharePoint, is required.
  • Highly organized with ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively while demonstrating a sense of urgency.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
