General Summary: Under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor, the Senior Accountant maintains financial records and ensures accurate recording of all financial transactions. The Senior Accountant prepares complex financial reports, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements, and analyzes financial trends to forecast future revenues and expenditures. This role ensures ledger integrity, reconciles subsidiary accounts, and supports audit and compliance efforts. The Senior Accountant may provide training and guidance to accounting support staff.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Within a team environment, the Senior Accountant performs the following duties:
Financial Analysis, Reconciliation, and Reporting (45%)
- Analyze and reconcile balance sheet and sub-ledger accounts; prepare adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Prepare monthly financial statements in coordination with Finance staff.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and reconciling transactions.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all cash, savings, and investment accounts, including related journal entries.
Fixed Asset and Capital Expenditure Management (15%)
- Maintain and analyze fixed asset schedules.
- Identify purchases to be capitalized, assign asset numbers, reconcile asset detail, and calculate depreciation and amortization.
- Ensure compliance with CCRC’s fixed asset and disposal policies.
Journal Entry and Close Process (10%)
- Process and manage journal entries for assigned areas during monthly close.
- Work with department staff to ensure proper recording of capital projects and balance sheet items.
Compliance and Audit Support (10%)
- Review Accounts Payable transactions and Purchasing requisitions for compliance.
- Ensure adherence to procurement policies and applicable regulations (e.g., OMB 2 CFR Part 200, Uniform Administration Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance).
- Assist in preparation for annual financial audits, including audit schedules and documentation.
- Respond to audit requests from independent auditors and funders.
Staff Support and Collaboration (15%)
- Train, mentor, and review work of Staff Accountants as assigned.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to internal staff on financial inquiries or issues.
- Engage in cross-departmental projects related to accounting and finance.
Non-Essential Duties And Responsibilities
These duties are generally periodic and comprise less than 5% of overall functions:
- Stay current on accounting standards, regulations, and funder guidelines; research and propose technical accounting solutions as needed.
- Conduct research or analysis on special projects as requested by leadership.
- Participate in professional development activities, trainings, and workshops.
- Attend internal and external meetings as required.

Job Specifications
Minimum Required
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 5 years of advanced level accounting work experience with Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Or any combination of education and experience which would enable the candidate to successfully perform the functions of the position.

- Strong computer skills, including intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word; proficient in all other Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, etc.).
