The Role
The Senior Director of Franchise Operations (SDFO) supports the overall mission of the Franchise Operations team by leading a team and district that nurtures relationships with owners by understanding their individual goals and needs while recognizing every hotel is unique. The SDFO optimizes district performance by leading a team that delivers innovative solutions and relevant resources using their experience and network across the organization.
What you'll do
People Leadership
- Coach to the expectations of the RDFO role to ensure productivity against goals.
- Provide leadership, direction and empowerment to RDFOs to implement strategy.
- Lead team of direct reports by engaging with them in person & virtually to connect them to the business, align them to the WHR goals, and motivate them to take ownership of key metrics that drive their region.
- Provide supervisory coaching, training, support, and accountability for direct reports and overall district.
- Effectively conduct and document crucial conversations to maintain value and trust with the team and owners.
- Accountable for leading teams in environments with increasing complexity and rapid change through planning, resourcefulness, and organizational ability.
- Display a positive image and promote the value of WHR while displaying a sense of pride in the organization.
- Evaluate, identify, and promote professional growth opportunities of their direct reports by utilizing WHR’s performance management platform and available development tools.
- Attract and retain new talent. Ensure proper onboarding of new talent.
Strategic
- Establish and own a clear district plan that aligns with the WHR and Franchise Operation Department goals.
- Monitor the performance of the district, identify patterns and problem areas. Work with RDFO to identify actions to implement strategies and effective solutions to improve performance.
- Use analytical data to help navigate barriers/obstacles and assist the team through problem resolution.
- Frequently measure performances of strategies and initiatives for district performance report out.
- Serve as next level of escalation in decision making that have impact on their districts. Anticipate, prevent, and solve challenges that may arise.
- Collaborate with WHR business leads through the web of influence to identify operational opportunities for owners to develop their business.
- Lead or own WHR projects, initiatives, and tasks to reinforce the WHR culture and strategic goals.
- Create a culture of trust and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to achieve performance goals.
- Balance WHR, owner, and team needs by leveraging business acumen, critical thinking, and organizational management and advocate for all as needed.
Administrative
- Funnel requests from the business to the team to prioritize and execute initiatives/projects and tasks.
- Report regularly to the VP of Franchise Operations with follow up, document, and utilize system reporting to provide a comprehensive report out of the district’s performance and opportunities.
- Requires an average of 50% travel with a flexible work schedule.
- Manage budgets and forecasts to meet financial goals and operations for the district.
- Develop personal relevant skillset & knowledge base of industry standards, trends, and practices.
