Chief Technology Officer

Vendelux is a Series A SaaS company and we provide the system of record for event marketing. Our software platform provides proprietary insights that helps high-growth companies find the highest ROI events, conferences and trade shows to attend and sponsor. We have built an AI-powered platform that customers describe as an event marketer’s dream.

Vendelux was founded in 2021, and our recent $14 million Series A was led by First Mark, who have invested in other companies like Shopify, Pinterest, Discord, Airbnb, Draft Kings, Carta and Justworks (amongst others). Our leadership team includes alumni from Shutterstock, Bain, Google, Parsley and Compass.

This is the most important position that we are currently hiring for and this person will change the trajectory of our company while building out an incredible team! We're looking to bring on a CTO who has experience scaling products and teams with previous experience doing so at a startup. We have a team of 5 engineers today that this would immediately inherit and are looking to scale this to about 15 by EOY 2024. In addition, you would also have oversight of product and design.

Scope of Responsibilities

• Architect our software platform for today while planning for future needs

• Help us gain an edge via advances in AI/ML to optimize/improve our data products

• Be a key leader of our multinational, agile software development team

• Hire, manage and mentor a growing team of engineers

• Define and prioritize the engineering roadmap

• Prioritize speed and getting things done over perfection

• Work with staff engineers and contractors to ship and improve features on time

• Learn from customers about what they need and value while also balancing requests from internal stakeholders like sales and client success

• Help develop and communicate the vision of where the product and tech stack should be in 6 months and 5+ years

• Continuously update and expand our products to meet customer needs

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building complex web applications in Python, Django, React, or similar

• Leadership at a tech startup. We'd prefer a former CTO or engineering leader with experiences at a seed/series A-B stage startup and scaling through an exit

• Great intuition - we need someone who is energized by solving hard problems

• Hands-on experience designing software and breaking down complexity using product management principles

• Design (UX + UI) skills are a plus

• Takes ownership and demands excellence from themselves and others

• Likes a fast paced environment and is a quick learner

• Results-driven and can prioritize activities with the greatest impact
