We are currently seeking a Systems Administration Senior Specialist to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia (US-GA), United States (US).
Senior Windows Engineer
Position Summary:
As a Senior Windows Engineer within the Datacenter Transformation Center of Excellence (COE), you will analyze existing x86/x64 architectures and workloads to design, implement, and troubleshoot solutions in transformed environments. You will participate in early project discovery, develop Future Mode of Operation (FMO) designs, lead administrative teams in implementing solutions, and migrate Windows workloads from current environments to transformed ones using industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with customers on data center transformation activities, documenting Windows systems and workloads.
- Manage all aspects of workload integration projects independently.
- Act as a liaison between customers, transition teams, vendors, and contractors to communicate complex technical concepts.
- Conduct application owner and business user interviews to identify system functions, architectural, and network dependencies.
- Execute discovery activities to document existing Windows server inventory.
- Work closely with the Datacenter Server Tower to develop and implement transformation solutions.
- Consult on complex business issues, design considerations, and system requirements.
- Lead the development and execution of user acceptance test plans.
- Create and update documentation and processes to optimize network functions.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for outages and performance issues during transformation.
- Review and analyze system requirements to support business initiatives in the transformed environment.
- Migrate legacy Windows servers to modern virtual environments using tools such as VMconverter or PlateSpin.
Must have Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional IT experience.
- 8+ years of senior-level Windows administration experience.
- 5 years managing Microsoft Windows Server environments, including legacy versions (NT, 2000, 2003), Server 2008/2008 R2, Server 2012/2012 R2, Server 2016, and newer.
- 3+ years’ experience managing SSL certificates.
- Proven experience migrating legacy Windows servers to virtualized environments.
- Strong background in distributed network administration.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Windows Systems Management:
- Proficient with Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).
- Expertise in Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), user and group creation.
- Knowledge of LDAP, DNS, DHCP, IIS.
- Exchange Server management, including recipient and distribution list management.
- Managing backup and restoration tasks.
- Understanding of web services and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
- Security protocols and security management.
- PowerShell scripting and custom module development.
- UNIX shell scripting (Shell, Bash, Korn).
- VBScript.
- SQL coding and scripting.
- Ability to analyze, debug, and troubleshoot code.
- Familiarity with C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET development.
- Understanding fundamentals of object-oriented programming (OOP).
- Knowledge of web services and SOA principles.
