About the role

VCS Engineering is offering an exciting summer internship opportunity for engineering students who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the field of reinforced concrete infrastructure. As an engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. This internship will begin in early June or as soon as the student is available and will conclude by the end of August, based on the student's schedule.

During your internship, you will work closely with our experienced engineers and technicians, assisting with on-site evaluations, condition assessments, and data collection. You will also have the opportunity to learn and apply advanced techniques for concrete repair and rehabilitation. This internship will provide you with a valuable learning experience and help you develop the skills necessary for a successful career in civil engineering or other similar field.

This internship is open to engineering students who have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Geophysics, or other similar discipline. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic record and a passion for the field of civil infrastructure. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Please note that this is a paid internship and candidates must be legally entitled to work in the US.

Responsibilities:

  • Condition assessments/investigations
  • Non-destructive testing
  • Install and troubleshoot instrumentation, prepare test reports, conduct research activities, and generally support other Engineers and Project Managers as required.
  • Work with a team of technicians in the field to conduct testing and data collection.
  • Implement non-destructive testing techniques such as ground penetrating radar, impact echo, corrosion potential and many others.
  • Collect field measurements and accurately prepare field notes and other documentation.
  • Develop a professional report regarding work performed and conclusions that meet our quality standards and Client’s expectations.
  • Assist our NDT Division as needed.

Requirements

  • Travel is an important aspect of VCS's work. Travel is to be expected between 70%-90% of the time within the US.
  • 1 years of undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Geophysics, or other similar discipline
  • VCS is a drug and alcohol-free workplace, any candidates selected for employment will be required to pass a drug screen.
