Regardless of where you work within the company, you’ll be helping provide protection and peace of mind when our customers need it most.The Investment Operations Associate II provides investments information services to support the Investment Management business at Protective Life. It is a collaborative position which includes interacting with both Operations and Strategy teams within the Middle Office.
ResponsibilitiesTrade Management•Support for securities and derivatives data management operations. •Assist in the development, management, and maintenance of Investment related data used for internal management reporting including transactions, positions, performance, analytics, and limits.•Perform regular deep dive data analysis to manage the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of investments data.•Improve the quality control of all reference and analytical investments data. Evolve the process and tools required for system monitoring, data quality, diagnostics, and data resolution for operations.•Trade settlement, Custodian and Middle Office communication, Trade Monitoring. •KYC and AML knowledge, security regulations, compliance framework.
Reporting and Analysis •Responsible for securities and derivatives reporting and analysis operations.  These reports include a) Transactions, b) Positions, c) Performance Measurement & Attribution, d) Scenario Analysis/Stress Testing, e) Counterparty Margin/Collateral Liquidity & Credit Analysis, f) Limits & Compliance for internal and external constituents as well as the Board, Internal Audit and others needing investment information.•Participate in periodic process gap analysis as part of continuous innovation, improving operational effectiveness and efficiency and strengthening underlying risk controls.  Adhere to change management standards to mitigate key person risk and other operational risks associated with change, lack of communication and transparency.•Perform daily reconciliations and reporting across multiple platforms and product lines. 
Systems / Data Management•Support the development of the Systems Management Framework:•Serve as a liaison between Investments Front Office and IT organization to provide solutions to meet user needs•Identify and propose technology enhancements needed to achieve objectives related to data management and reporting/analysis•Support the development of new investment management derivatives & securities systems: learn functionalities, train end-users, and assist in coding to allow for customization of product to business needs•Facilitate initiatives and lead projects involving use of technology to enhance business processes•Perform Systems administration tasks to ensure system controls and segregation of duties controlsOther•Participate in special projects/initiatives of Investments Operations on an as-needed basis.•Participate in other departments or corporate-wide strategy (development/enhancement) initiatives as needed.   

Qualifications/Education/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or Accounting from an accredited college or university
  • Strong analytical, qualitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Excel with knowledge of advanced concepts such as macros, pivot tables, filtering
  • Highly accurate and detail oriented
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to simultaneously work in multiple areas of the Investments Operations Team
  • Ability to think strategically – strong business skills
  • Ability to simplify and translate complex concepts into simple terms
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams
  • Service-oriented and helpful, always seeking to learn to improve ways and supports continuous business process improvement initiatives
