The First Judicial District of Pennsylvania (“FJD”) is the Philadelphia County Court System and is composed of two courts: the Court of Common Pleas and the Municipal Court. The mission of the FJD is to adjudicate cases and provide services to the community within our jurisdiction while ensuring fair, timely, and accessible justice to the people of Philadelphia. The FJD is part of the Unified Judicial System reporting into the Pennsylvania Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Job Description
Position Summary:
This is responsible clerical-accounting work involving the application of bookkeeping principles and practices. The individual selected for this position may be assigned to either the Juvenile Branch or Domestic Relations Branch of Family Court, and may be reassigned to either Branch, as business needs might require.
An employee in this class performs standard bookkeeping duties in recording, reviewing, and processing financial records and documents. Work involves maintaining bookkeeping records including posting and proving, classifying accounting documents prior to posting, or preparing prescribed financial statements and reports. Work may involve typing, the use of standard office equipment, and the performance of related clerical tasks. Work methods are governed in detail by established account classifications and procedures. Difficult technical problems and irregularities are referred to a supervisor who observes work in progress and periodically reviews records.

Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Posts accounting data to ledgers, books, registers, and journals.
- Makes routine adjustments to accounts; prepares daily summary and monthly accumulative reports.
- Operates as cashier to accept payments and reconcile receipts.
- Takes routine trial balances and prepares routine financial reports.
- Maintains expenditure and budgetary control accounts and prepares necessary reports relating to account status.
- Reviews and processes approved invoices for payments.
- Analyzes forms, correspondence, audit and investigation reports and records to determine completeness, accuracy of information and compliance with rules and regulations.
