Join Cleveland Clinic's Forensic Nursing team and become part of a compassionate, highly specialized group dedicated to supporting patients during some of life's most challenging moments. As a Forensic Nurse, you'll provide trauma-informed care to pediatric and adult patients. In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, you'll offer compassionate care, advocacy, and support while helping patients navigate their next steps.
Whether you're looking to expand your nursing skills or pursue a unique specialty, this role offers an exceptional opportunity for growth. No prior forensic nursing experience is required. We're willing to train the right candidate. You'll receive comprehensive education and mentorship, beginning with the adult patient population before progressing to pediatrics. *Onboarding is completed in house, immediately put on call, 3-6 months to get through orientation – must be able to do the training as needed, must be able to have a 7:00pm start time*
A caregiver in this position works PRN| 7:00pm—3:00pm or 7:00pm—7:00am| PRN will float between campuses.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide enhanced follow-up services and resources, safety plans are discussed and implemented before the patient is discharged.
Perform speculum exams and/or pediatric assessments under the supervision of a LIP.
Utilize a thorough knowledge on collecting and managing forensic evidence with a Sexual Assault Exam Collection (SAEC) kit and a Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault kit (DFSA).
Interact and collaborate with medical and nursing staff, law enforcement, prosecutors, protective services, advocates, and other agencies as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Complete an IAFN approved SANE Adolescent/Adult course within 60 days of hire
Complete an IAFN approved SANE Pediatric course within 1 year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Hea
