Geomatics Mapping Technician - LiDAR

Terra Remote Sensing Inc., located on beautiful Vancouver Island, B.C,  is an international mapping company specializing in the acquisition, analyses, and production of spatial data. We offer world-class expertise in digital airborne mapping, hydrographic charting, marine geophysics, and geomatics support services. 

Terra is seeking bright and eager Geomatics Mapping Technicians to join the LiDAR production team for a work from home, 12-month contract starting April 2025 to learn and assist with the processing of aerial remote sensing LiDAR data. Full training, and technology required to perform the work, will be provided. Hours of work will be 40 hours per week Monday through Friday.  This role is suited to a recent graduate with some familiarity of remote sensing and/or looking for experience in the geomatics domain as well as opportunity to learn about ortho imagery, calibration, and LiDAR data.  There is opportunity that this role may become permanent.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Supervisor, the successful candidate is responsible for:

• LiDAR analysis, classification, and preparing LiDAR for IQC according to SOPs.
• Assisting with LiDAR overall QC (specific to data delivery preparation), process compliance and improvement initiatives, as required.
• Special projects as assigned in various departments.

Job Requirements

• Related education and/or recent graduate.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use an organized and methodical approach to work efficiently with multiple formats of data simultaneously. Keen attention to detail and a natural technical predisposition is necessary.
• Proven aptitude to work in a 3D environment or experience with 3D point clouds is an asset.
• Experience with data processing software is an asset. Bentley or Terrasolid experience is a great asset but not required.
• Overtime may be required from time to time.
