Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor

Description

The Department of English at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County seeks a full-time Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor for a one-year appointment, beginning August 23, 2025. The candidate will teach a 4:4 load in first-year composition and earn a salary of $50,000.

First-year composition at UMBC (ENGL 100) is a required one-semester course in critical thinking, reading, and composing, with an emphasis on integrating academic research and documentation. Students read and produce work for a variety of purposes and audiences and focus on strategies for researching, organizing, drafting, sharing, and revising.

Qualifications

Candidates should have an M.A. or PH. D in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or any allied field, with experience in teaching first-year composition.
