Our long-term client relationship with Jacobs has led to a need for a Spacesuit PLSS Project Manager on the Amentum contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

Responsibilities

The Spacesuit PLSS Project Manager will:

  • Perform project management and engineering functions for space suit development, including requirementsdevelopment, hardware development, manufacturing, assembly, and test
  • Manage the engineering team for the specific space suit subsystem assigned 
  • Provide budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating support
  • Monitor cost performance for their subsystem development against established plans
  • Develop and maintain company and customer financial report
  • Oversee and develop schedules, procedures, work instructions and process flows
  • Develop risks and risk mitigation plans for rollup into the higher-level risk systemInteract frequently with inter-organizational disciplines, NASA System Managers, and operational customers
  • Perform all other assigned duties

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus five (5) years of relatedexperience.
  • License and certification may be required.

 Preferences:

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school
  • Experience managing and leading engineering projects
  • Experience with financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers andmanagement at all levels
  • Ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously and track tasks and issues to completion
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical systemdesign, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software

 

Essential Requirements 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
