This position supervises the operation of laboratory services in assigned areas by supervising personnel and overseeing day-to-day workflow.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
For West Virginia Labs:
1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (Medical Laboratory Science) or related field.
2. WV Licensure as a Laboratory Technologist within 90 days of hire.
3. Certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
EXPERIENCE:
1. Four (4) years experience as a Medical Technologist.
OR
1. Associate's degree in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Technology or related field.
2. WV Licensure as a Laboratory Technician within 90 days of hire.
3. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
EXPERIENCE:
1. Four (4) years experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
OR
1. Bachelors degree in Histotechnology
2. Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent agency as a Histotechnologist (HTL).
3. Licensed in the State of WV as a Laboratory Technician within 90 days of employment if performing specimen grossing.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Four (4) years experience as a Histotechnologist.
OR
1. Bachelors or Masters degree from accredited cytotechnologist program
2. Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent certifying agency as a Cytotechnologist.
3. Licensed by the state of West Virginia within 30 days of employment.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Three (3) years experience as a Cytotechnologist.
For Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland Labs:
1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (Medical Laboratory Science) or related field.
2. Certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
EXPERIENCE:
1. Four (4) years experience as a Medical Technologist.
OR
1. Associate of Science degree in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Technology or related field.
2. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
EXPERIENCE:
1. Four (4) years experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
OR
1. Bachelors degree in Histotechnology
2. Certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent agency as a Histotechnologist (HTL).

1. Assist the Managers in the supervision of all lab areas to assure appropriate personnel coverage. Assist with ensuring adequate staffing and appropriate staff in support of the hospital’s mission of patient care.
2. Participates in the orientation of new staff. Provides input for staff’s annual performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and terminations, based on documented performance within time frames established by the institution.
3. Coordinates and ensures all Reference Laboratory specimens are sent to appropriate reference laboratory and results are received within specified time frame.
4. In conjunction with LIS personnel and technical staff coordinates all computer downtime activities in accordance with standard operating procedures.
5. Operates and supervises the operation of laboratory equipment consistent with standard operating procedure and promptly prepares patient specimens in accordance with standard operating policies.
