The hire will be able to translate the business needs of a federal agency into data architecture and metadata standards, and enforce those standards, aligning with IT and data governance policies. The Associate Data Architect will work under an Analytics Architect to manage data assets according to high-level designs and business requirements. They must be pro-active and self-directed. Meticulous attention to detail, as well as the ability to understand abstract concepts, is essential to perform well in this role. Responsibilities
- Execute the analytics data architecture strategy that aligns with agency goals, objectives, and policies.
- Maintain a data catalog for a self-service data platform.
- Enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices across the analytics team to maintain data quality and compliance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of analytics data architecture, data models, and integration processes.
- Document data flows, i.e., which parts of the organization generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed, and how data changes in transition.
- Maintain complex data models, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and performance.
- Ensure data security and compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Write code to flag issues with data standards, quality, and consistency.
- Stay current with emerging data technologies and make recommendations for adoption to enhance data architecture.
- Solution with Bixal’s team of practice area leads and business development experts to envision new opportunities for data modernization in the federal space.
- As appropriate, play an active role in new client acquisition by supporting business development initiatives to enhance and grow Bixal's business in each of the areas that it works.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience in a data analyst role, or a commensurate combination of education and experience.
- Experience working as a data analyst in the healthcare analytics space.
- Ability to undergo a background investigation by the U.S. Government and meet eligibility requirements for suitability.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications, including data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, and data warehouses.
- Working knowledge of data integration tools (ex. erwin, Alation) and ETL processes.
- Deep experience with star and snowflake schemas.
- Excellent problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Superb technical writing skills.
- Expertise in data modeling techniques, data warehousing, and database design.
- Understanding of data regulations and standards such as FHIR, FISMA, PII/PHI, ARS.
- Experience with AWS data management systems (RDS, EMR, s3, Athena).
- Experience working on Agile teams.
