- Clinical Personnel: Strictly adheres to standard precautions by adhering to the usage of personal protective equipment when handling blood or body fluids.
- Non-Clinical Personnel: Washes hands and other skin surfaces with soap and water thoroughly and often in an effort to control spreading of germs within the department and facility.
- Adheres to isolation procedures at all times as applicable.
· Adheres to the following environmental care standards.
- Demonstrates adequate knowledge of safety policies and procedures, the use of MSDS sheets, hazardous material procedures, and safety codes.
- Respond appropriately to any Codes while working any shift (Code Blue, Code Gray, Code Silver, Code Amber, Code Red, Code Orange, and Rapid Response Team).
- Demonstrates adequate knowledge of security issues, i.e., personal protection, protection of personal and hospital property.
· Participates in quality initiatives as needed.
· Be familiar with and comply with the Mid-Valley Hospital & Clinic Personnel Handbook and Policies.
- Be familiar with the collective bargaining agreement (Union Contract) of the UFCW3000 and Mid-Valley Hospital.
Essential Job Functions
1. Introduce patients to the hospital and explain and initiate the procedures, the consent forms and other paper work by which patients are identified and collect payments or deposits.
2. Interview patient or representative to obtain personal, statistical and financial information, such as patient’s name, address, age, telephone number and occupation; persons to notify in case of emergency; attending physician; and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of hospital bill. Enter this information either directly into the computer to create the on-line admissions form or on an approved pre-admission form and obtain patient’s or representative’s signature. Route admitting forms to appropriate department. Refer patient to Financial Representative as necessary.
3. Responsible for many miscellaneous computer functions to track patient’s records and accounts.
4. Work under the supervision of the Business Office Supervisor and perform the following tasks according to established, written hospital policy and procedures located in the policy and procedure books.
5. Monitor daily census and verify the insurance on all outpatients and inpatients.
6. Assist patients with signing up for Public Assistance when the need is indicated. At times, may also help them fill out the forms.
7. Notify the Tribe of patient that would be covered with contract health.
8. Refer patient to financial counselor as needed.
9. Admission personnel may work in the outpatient, emergency or inpatient areas.
10. Process outgoing mail daily in a timely manner.
11. Run, balance and maintain all computerized census (morning) reports.
12. Keep the office stocked with clerical supplies as well as all the forms used in the department and notify Business Office Supervisor to reorder.
13. Responsible for reception duties and answering a multi-line unit transferring calls.
14. Perform routine typing and clerical duties.
15. Receive payments for hospital and medical services rendered and record amount received according to written procedures.
16. Perform other duties as directed by the Business Office Manager.
17. Demonstrate an initiative for and willingness to learn new procedures.
18. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the hospital’s policies. Demonstrate an adherence to them.
19. Maintain established department policies, procedures, objective, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
