The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I be doing?  

ü Plan and develop new and existing large-scale projects

ü Manage multiple projects, including those overseeing a constortium of 6 Adult Literacy & Education (AEL) providers

ü Develop action plans to streamline processes and achieve expected outcomes in a timely manner

ü Ensure programs and services are delivered in accordance with the Workforce Board’s directive and compliant with all federal, state and local laws and regulations

ü Supervise diverse team of individuals

ü Strategically adjust work load amongst team members

ü Effectively communicate unit and project status

 

Key Qualifications  

ü Experienced in Project Management Principles and proven ability to handle large-scale projects from inception to completion, and anywhere in between

ü Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

ü Ability to effectively handle multiple competing deadlines

ü Skill in allocating scarce resources, including human capital

ü Effective leadership, motivation, and teamwork skills

ü Problem-solving capabilities

 

Do you have…  

ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study   

ü 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, schools or in job-related duties 

 

Preferred Qualifications

ü Grant writing experience preferred
