About the role 

  

Step into a rewarding role as a Nursing Assistant where you will bring excellent customer-facing skills and a genuine passion to deliver an exceptional service to our donors.  

  

You will play a key role in supporting our donors through their donation process. Full training is provided so, along with the above, all you need is the curiosity and motivation to learn the process of collecting blood and biological product.  

  

A day in the centre could see you:   

  

  • Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate  

  • Create a donor experience they’ll love and want to come back Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests  

  • Set up machines and collections equipment  

  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets  

  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them with rebooking their next donation  

  • Work collaboratively to achieve collection targets  

  

No previous blood collection experience is required. Our paid training program blends hands-on practice with online learning to set you up for success. What’s essential is your passion for delivering an exceptional donor experience, supported by proven customer-facing experience that you can draw on in every interaction. 

  

Your skills in action will include: 

  • Delivering exceptional customer service and creating positive, welcoming experiences for donors 

  • Demonstrating strong communication skills and confidence when engaging with a diverse range of people 

  • Previous experience in retail, hospitality, customer service, or a similar customer-facing role (desirable) 

  • Being comfortable working with needles and blood/biological materials (training provided) 

  • Supporting and contributing to a positive team culture 

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow processes accurately 

  • Occasionally lifting items weighing between 9–22.7kg 

  • Frequently standing, walking, bending, and reaching to set up and pack down equipment and blood products 

  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster Monday to Friday, including occasional weekends 

 

Important training requirement 

Please note that full availability Monday to Friday is required during the initial 10-week training period.
