Ketjen is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner who will collaborate closely with Ketjen’s Houston Manufacturing sites as a strategic leader in supporting HR functions, labor relations and employee relations at represented and non-represented locations.

This position will be based in Houston at our Bayport Plant and qualify for a hybrid work schedule.

What you will do:

  • Partner with plant leadership to successfully execute strategic HR initiatives, as well as identify and proactively develop talent through formal training, mentoring, coaching and “stretch” assignments.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management that mirrors the missions and core values of the company.
  • Leverage employee relations knowledge to ensure HR services are compliant with laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Conduct effective thorough and objective investigation; formulate recommendations for remedial action if necessary.
  • Participate in in succession planning to ensure talent is available and ready to assume positions of across locations.
  • Oversee the performance management process and work with functional leaders on their employee reviews and evaluations. Provide training and consultation, as necessary.
  • Labor Relations experience preferred. Respond to grievances, review disciplinary programs, conduct investigations, interpret the CBA; prepare for arbitrations, and lead in union contract negotiations.
  • Review, interpret, administer, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate, facilitate, and champion HR programs and company-wide initiatives such as employee engagement and recognition; provide support for activities relating to employee benefits (e.g., Open Enrollment, Employee Recognition, Wellness, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience with HR program design and implementation.
  • Gather and analyze HR metrics for the supported site.
  • Work with plant leaders to create and maintain workforce staffing plans. Coordinate recruiting efforts to ensure that competent, diverse, and skilled workers are hired, and workload levels are appropriate and maintained, and work to minimize turnover.

What you bring:

Required Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of professional experience with bachelor’s degree Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial or Labor Relations or a closely related field OR 10+ years of experience working in HR or related role.
  • 5+ years of experience working in Human Resources supporting multiple leaders and teams.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree preferred in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial or Labor Relations or a closely related field.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience with HRIS (preferably Workday).
  • Experience with multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, employee relations, diversity, and coaching for performance.
  • Demonstrated experience with HR program design and implementation and change management.

  • Experience providing support to Plant/Manufacturing Operations
