Overview

Principal Analytics Engineer provides strategic vision and leadership in the overall design and execution of our Analytics Strategy. Analytics Engineer will report to the Chief Data Officer and will be responsible for devising and executing against our standards of analytics solution development and automation. Principal Analytics Engineer is equal parts advisor and hands-on engineer and will require an individual with broad skills and experiences in developing business-critical analytics solutions, as well as a proven ability to mentor others in analytics engineering best practices.

 

Important Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Experience:

  • Expert SQL skills
  • Experience utilizing Agile methodology
  • Experience building and maintain data models
  • Knowledge of data integration tools: dbt, Informatica, MS Integration Services, etc.
  • Ability to consume and create APIs
  • Proficient in Python and/or additional programming languages
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git
  • Databricks, Snowflake, or similar platform
  • Cloud Computing (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Expert Tableau, PowerBI, or similar tool
  • Knowledge of Epic's data and analytics tooling is a plus

Responsibilities

Builds high-performing and high-impact analytics solutions to deliver novel and timely insights:

  • Owns end-to-end development of solutions, including data extraction, transformation, and visualization of high-profile analytics products.
  • Develops and deploys data assets to our Enterprise Data Platform, enabling scalable and extensible use (and reuse) of business-critical data.
  • Refactors data assets to improve performance, accuracy, and quality of insights.
  • Conducts highly complex work, unsupervised, and with extensive latitude for independent judgment.
  • Designs and builds complex data models, approve modifications, and implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.

 

Provides guidance to leaders, engineers, architects, and analysts to drive the design and development of analytics solutions:

  • Acts as a project consultant for other members of the Data Intelligence team as they work to overcome challenges in the solution development lifecycle.
  • Provides hands-on support for prioritized Data Intelligence work streams.
  • Mentors less experienced team members and provide coaching as needed.
  • Optimizes overall data/information flow by reducing redundancy and enabling
