Data Analyst

Summary:

Source Strategies is seeking a Data Analyst to support its expanding data operations team. The position will focus on transforming and coding large public datasets, primarily from the Texas Comptroller, into actionable insights for internal analysis and client reporting. The analyst will also be involved in coding, automation, and data management tasks to improve workflow efficiency and data infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with a strong foundation in business analytics, information systems, and coding to apply their skills to real-world economic and market research.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean, organize, and code public sector datasets (especially Texas Comptroller hotel tax data) using Python, SQL, and other tools
• Assist in maintaining and updating Source Strategies' proprietary databases.
• Conduct data analysis and build internal models related to hotel revenue, occupancy, and return on investment forecasts
• Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Excel, Tableau, or Power BI
• Collaborate with the data operations team and management to support feasibility studies, litigation support, and custom client analytics
• Develop and implement automation tools to streamline data workflows and reporting processes
• Support ongoing data management and quality control efforts
• Document processes and methodologies to ensure consistency and transparency
• Stay current on changes in data sources and contribute ideas for process improvement and data quality enhancements

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data management and analysis
• Advanced Excel capabilities; familiarity with Power BI or Tableau is a plus
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate complex data clearly and effectively

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field
• Relevant coursework or internship experience in data analytics or programming preferred

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
