In this role, employees are responsible for providing leadership and oversight within the Anaplan COE to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of Anaplan development efforts, supporting Markel’s business objectives and strategies. Team Leads will act as a subject matter expert, sharing skills and knowledge; serve in a leadership capacity, fostering teamwork; and function as a mentor, promoting the growth and skills development of Anaplan modelers and end-users.

Job Description

• Maintain and expand existing Anaplan models by managing routine processes and through the solutioning, developing and deploying of enhancements

• Participate in, and lead, future model builds as more use cases are identified, scoped, and prioritized

• Strive to understand business workflows and process pain points as to be effective in designing and developing flexible, scalable solutions that optimize the end-user experience

• Provide Anaplan expertise, knowledge and insight to improve business performance and find creative, efficient and effective ways to complete activities/tasks

• Work both independently and collaboratively to generate ideas and implement solutions using available technologies

• Independently expand one’s leadership skills, along with Markel-specific business and industry knowledge

• Support team member growth through mentoring, skills development training, and knowledge transfer activities

• Contribute to enhancing the governance framework and best practices to standardize model building, deployments and maintenance

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or management information systems preferred

Certifications

• Certified Anaplan Model Builder preferred

Work Experience/Skill Set

• Anaplan or similar technical knowledge required

• Financial planning and budgeting experience highly preferred

• Possesses an understanding of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes

• Demonstrates a passion to learn new technology and adhere to best practices

• Demonstrates strong data analytical and problem-solving skills

• Has strong Excel and data manipulation skills; financial modeling is a plus

• Has the ability to translate functional requirements into planning and forecasting models

• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and an ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders

• Articulates issues clearly and communicates effectively with all levels of an organization

• Listens well and is receptive to others' ideas and suggestions, encourages open and collaborative dialogue among team members
