About the role

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Shift / Schedule: Guaranteed 40 hours per week; 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week; shifts available
based on operational need: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM, and 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Job Overview
PEMCCO is seeking a dependable Traffic Control Officer to support public safety and tunnel
operations at a critical bridge tunnel facility.


This is a hands-on role for someone who can work independently, stay alert in a fast-paced
environment, and respond effectively to traffic, safety, and facility-related issues. You will help
inspect vehicles, manage traffic control, support facility security, patrol tunnels and roadways,
and assist with emergency response efforts that protect travelers and keep transportation
operations running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

  • Stop and inspect vehicles for over-height vehicles, hazardous materials, and safety
    concerns
  • Provide traffic control and facility security in and around the bridge tunnel facility
  • Assist police, fire, and emergency responders during incidents and emergency response
    situations
  • Patrol tunnels and roadways and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or operational
    concerns
  • Provide roadside assistance and support stranded motorists when needed
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment as part of daily tunnel operations and
    transportation operations
  • Support public safety efforts that help keep traffic moving efficiently
  • Respond professionally and effectively in a fast-paced field environment
  • Complete paid DOT training and CPR training to support operational readiness


What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all conditions
  • Strong communication skills and attention to safety
  • Willingness to complete paid DOT training and CPR training
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment


Preferred Experience

  • Experience in public safety, traffic operations, transportation operations, or facility
    security
  • Experience with vehicle inspection, traffic control, patrol, or incident response
  • Experience working outdoors or in field-based roles
  • CDL strongly preferred but not required
  • Comfort working in physically active roles that require walking, standing, driving, lifting,
    and responding to live roadway conditions
