About the Role
FareHarbor is looking for a full time Engineering Team Lead to lead our API Engineering team in the North American region.
You will manage a remote team of engineers in our and work closely with the engineering group to help each member develop their skills and careers, while helping teams expand the FareHarbor application. You will need to use your hands-on experience to support the team on day to day operations.
You will work collaboratively with the technical management group within the Engineering and Product organization to ensure that the engineering team you lead is firing on all cylinders to reach company objectives. You’ll understand the priorities of the team and the company at large, and use that understanding to effectively manage your team to success.
About the Team
The Apiary (API) Team drives Fareharbor’s connectivity and success by building and maintaining robust integrations with Online Travel Agencies, affiliates, and key travel service providers. They are a fun, dynamic, and highly collaborative group of professionals. Utilizing agile methodologies, they manage the entire API lifecycle, from design to optimization, ensuring seamless connections that fuel our extended network and drive revenue. While primarily focused on Python/Django backend development, they also tackle front-end projects from time to time, playing a crucial role in our organization's tech ecosystem.
What you’ll do here:
- Manage 6-8 direct engineering reports
- 1-on-1s, career management; develop a supportive and challenging environment
- Technical oversight on effective solution design, decomposition strategies
- Technical leadership and mentorship for the team members
- Assess and manage the performance of the team members
- Tracking and optimizing the team performance
- Close collaboration with the Product Manager of the team
- Balancing between product development advancement and engineering excellence
- Assist in hiring initiatives for the Engineering and Product group as needed
Requirements:
- You have experience leading engineering teams for at least 2 years
- Have a hands on experience and can effectively judge technical solutions proposed by your teams
- You see processes as tools for achieving great products, not goals in their own right
- Enjoy and thrive under a high level of autonomy and responsibility
- You want to work in and encourage a positive, supportive, and fun environment
- You are genuinely excited to mentor engineers
