At Collins Aerospace we are redefining aerospace!

We are seeking applicants for the Collins scholar program. This program is a collaboration between the University of Michigan and Collins Aerospace and centers around the application of next generation Systems Engineering methods including Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Selected applicants will work with Collins Aerospace engineers during the academic year and complete an on-site internship at one of Collins sites in the US.

The Collins scholar Intern will join a team at one of our locations to work on Systems applications for Collins products such as the Landing Gear, Wheels & Brakes, Nacelles and Thrust Reversers, and Propeller Systems.

The candidate will be part of a systems engineering team at our Fort Worth, TX site.

What You Will Do:

The candidate will work with a project team in one or more of the following areas:

  • Systems Engineering

    • Requirements, Architecture, system design, system safety, system integration, and verification.

  • Model Based Systems Engineering

    • System architecture modeling using SysML

    • System simulation

What You Will Learn:

  • Gain an understanding of the aerospace and defense industry.

  • How Collins uses Systems Engineering and MBSE to develop a variety of products for commercial and defense applications.

  • System Engineering tools

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • “U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required”.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience using Cameo Systems Modeler

  • Experience using the Mathworks toolset (Simulink/Stateflow/Simscape)

  • Python programming experience

  • Familiarity with aerospace system development approaches

  • Fluent in English.
