About the role

The HR Specialist handles day to day tasks and processes for the Human Resources Department. This role will act as the first line of contact for team members questions or concerns and direct them appropriately when necessary. The HR Specialist will act as the primary individual on the HR Business Partner team to handle tactical items as appropriate. Team member will work cross functionally with all HR functions and may at times be asked to provide overflow support during high volume times.   Responsibilites: Carrying out the Company's organizational values and operating in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies are required functions. Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards. Handles team member questions and concerns and appropriately escalates matters to HR Business Partner or subject matter experts. Conducts exit surveys and ensure necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
  • Drafts and creates correspondence (letters, emails, fax) on employee related issues. May work with state authorities to respond to items such as unemployment claims. Act as recordkeeper during labor negotiations.
  • Assist HR Business Partners with coordinating and setting up training and engagement sessions.
  • Process and review employee transactions within HR system of record.
  • Assist additional HR teams on tasks as needs arise including Compensation, Benefits and Leave of Absence.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications JOB REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience Course(s) of Study: Human Resources, Business Administration Experience: 1-2 years experience Type of Experience: Experience working with a wide variety of people in a fast paced organization.   REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  3. Assures compliance with Ruan standards and DOT regulations.
  4. Must have strong computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload in a fast paced, multi-task environment.
  5. Must have strong verbal and written communication and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of people.
