Pediatric Inpatient Social Worker

Inpatient Pediatric Psychiatric Unit

 

Provides assessment, counseling, information and referral, advocacy services, and other resource assistance to patients directly or through consultation.

Responsibilities

Completes comprehensive, trauma-informed psychosocial assessments with patients and families.

Provides supportive counseling to individuals and families to assist with coping, management of stressors and disease management.

Coordinates community resources to address/meet identified needs.

Assists families in adapting to difficult and complicated dispositions involving complex/catastrophic care needs, multiple agencies/providers and linkage to resources outside the community.

Provides consultation, assessment, referral and coordination in cases of suspected child abuse or neglect, or other forms of family violence.

Documents objective, concise and pertinent clinical data in the medical record.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
• Social work experience in a hospital/ambulatory setting, community mental health, or crisis work preferred.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communications skills.
• Sound decision making and judgment.
• Time management skills.
• Negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to deal with conflict resolution.
• Comfortable with basic computer skills.
