Pediatric Inpatient Social Worker

Inpatient Pediatric Psychiatric Unit

 

Provides assessment, counseling, information and referral, advocacy services, and other resource assistance to patients directly or through consultation.

Responsibilities

  • Completes comprehensive, trauma-informed psychosocial assessments with patients and families.
  • Provides supportive counseling to individuals and families to assist with coping, management of stressors and disease management.
  • Coordinates community resources to address/meet identified needs.
  • Assists families in adapting to difficult and complicated dispositions involving complex/catastrophic care needs, multiple agencies/providers and linkage to resources outside the community.
  • Provides consultation, assessment, referral and coordination in cases of suspected child abuse or neglect, or other forms of family violence.
  • Documents objective, concise and pertinent clinical data in the medical record.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
    • Social work experience in a hospital/ambulatory setting, community mental health, or crisis work preferred.
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed care preferred.
    • Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communications skills.
    • Sound decision making and judgment.
    • Time management skills.
    • Negotiation skills.
    • Proven ability to deal with conflict resolution.
    • Comfortable with basic computer skills.
