Summary
Regular Schedule: 34 Hours Per Week.A vacancy exists in the Department of Health and Human Services, Children Services.

Examples of duties
Job PurposeUnder general supervision, determines eligibility of applicants for Formal Kinship program and provides a direct service, counseling, crisis intervention, and/or referral to another agency or professional.
Essential Job DutiesConducts interviews and reviews applications. Identifies, assesses, and evaluates strengths and needs, family functioning, and receptiveness to services.
Composes and completes treatment plans and evaluative reports; make referrals and linkages, as appropriate.
Maintains continuing contact with individuals and families receiving services.
Provides extensive counseling and crisis intervention services for individuals and families to assist the client achieve goals as delineated in the service agreement.
Completes assigned work as outlines in various service manuals and in a clear in consistent manner: written and oral communication including service documentation and court petitions.
Maintains case records, case plans, and other required documentation in accordance with COMAR, program, and local policy requirements and guidelines.
Examples of Other Duties
- Participates in community relations activities.
- Conducts on-site inspections of local disaster areas and coordinates and participates in relief efforts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and crisis intervention.
- Knowledge of the theories and principles of human behavior.
- Knowledge of current social, economic, and health problems.
- Knowledge of the functions of community health and welfare organizations and programs.
- Writing skill necessary to complete forms, case histories, and reports.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to gather and assess information and to apply guidelines for eligibility or suitability.
- Ability to interpret program guidelines, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to identify needs of individuals including crisis intervention.
- Ability to make appropriate referrals.
- Ability to diffuse hostile situations and clients.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to read and understand professional journals and other publications
