NATURE AND SCOPE:

Under the direction of the VP of Community Health & Wellness the Empower Healthy Living Director will develop, organize, administer, and evaluate the program and quality assurance process for Start 4 Life™, YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP) and the Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring (BPSM) Program.   This position is key to strategic alignment with the YMCA of the USA initiatives to “strengthen the foundations of community” and with the success of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta strategic plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

  • Supervise and monitor all YMCA health living activities including to Start 4 Life™, YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP) and Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring (BPSM) Program.

  • Follow best practices and protocols, which include quality assurance staffing, scheduling, training, accountability, data entry and reporting to ensure that program outcomes are met.

  • Coordinate grant related deliverables with associated entities. 

  • Perform quality assurance audits of Start 4 Life™, including on-site observation, physical and fitness measurements, program and compliance review with site managers, and related activities.

  • Supervise and monitor all activities related to Start 4 Life™ QA Monitors, BPSM Healthy Heart Ambassadors and YDPP Instructors, interns, and volunteers, including on-site oversight of quality assurance process, schedules, time and attendance, training, performance appraisal, coaching, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Provide Start 4 Life™ trainings as needed (on-boarding web-based videos, pre-service and more).

  • Supervise and monitor all activities related to program supplies and inventory management, including ordering, distribution, and budget compliance – game equipment, blood pressure cuffs, etc.

  • Develop program materials, procedures, processes and reports to support program and compliance requirements in collaboration with Wellness, Childcare, ECDC, Marketing, etc.

  • Participate in program and Metro association fund raising efforts, collaborating with Financial Development to obtain grant support.

  • Represent the EHL suite of programs and other proprietary health-promotion programs in the community and at Metro association meetings (e.g., Wellness Cabinet, Childcare Cabinet, ECDC, funders, etc.).

  • Keep current with YUSA trainings and certifications related to YDPP and BPSM and Healthy Heart Ambassadors and attend other continuing education events for personal and professional development with approval of supervisor and YMCA of Metro Atlanta Human Resources staff.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelors Degree and 2+ years of experience in wellness or health area programming or youth physical activity programming OR high school diploma and 4+ years of experience in wellness area programming or physical activity programming

  • Knowledge of computer software and ability to learn various software programs (including Word, Excel, and Power Point)

  • Ability to obtain CPR/AED card within 6 months of employment.

  • Valid Georgia driver’s license and reliable transportation to all sites

  • Ability to establish, collaborate, and maintain relationships with staff, YMCA members, volunteers, partnering schools and other community health partners
