The Multimedia Language Center for the Department of World Languages & Literatures (MLC) is the place for you. The MLC provides various resources to students studying world languages and is an instrumental part of the department.
The Student Assistant will have a variety of duties and responsibilities, as well as a high level of interaction with students, faculty, and staff assisting in the use of equipment & resources.
Responsibilities:
Under direct supervision, duties include but not limited to:
-Assist the Multimedia Language Center with day-to-day office operations.
- Provide basic & general office support, answer phone/take messages, schedule appointments, perform room/equipment clean up, open and/or close lab.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as software review, assist with installing iPad apps, performing software updates, etc.
- May require evening hours and weekends. A schedule will be arranged with the student prior to selection. The Center's normal hours are Mondays - Thursdays 8am - 8pm, Fridays 8am - 5pm, and Saturdays 10am - 2pm.
- If studying art or interested in graphic design/advertising, the position may include assisting with marketing, advertising, and graphic design materials for the Department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
- Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.
- As a Bridge Student Assistant, the student need not be registered as a student but must have been enrolled as a CSU student the previous term and is registered for the following term.
Required Qualifications:
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Payroll Requirement: Social Security Card
Preferred Qualifications:
- Comfortable working with students/faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying ages.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Maintain a preferred 2.7 G.P.A. or greater.
- Self-motivated; a quick learner; has initiative.
- Dependable and punctual; very responsible.
- Able to work well with others, as well as independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written).
Compensation and Benefits:
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information:
Work status: Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).
