Position Summary:
The Sr. Clinical Field Specialist is responsible for delivering high quality and compliant clinical field support for clinical studies (e.g., EFS/FIH, IDE, Post-Market) sponsored by the BD Peripheral Intervention (BDPI) business unit in order to optimize patient safety, study enrollment, and data integrity. The Sr. Clinical Field Specialist will partner with BDPI stakeholders to develop strong relationships with clinical site personnel including Investigators, study coordinators, nurses and other site staff. The Sr. Clinical Field Specialist will also support site selection and startup activities, drive patient recruitment, ensure protocol and data compliance, provide technical support during procedures, and supports challenging technical/troubleshooting scenarios.
As a subject matter expert on BDPI studies and products, the Sr. Clinical Field Specialist acts as a liaison between BDPI and the medical community, constantly communicating important information to Investigators and/or BDPI customers and with cross-functional partners such as R&D, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Sales.
Essential / Key Job Responsibilities (including supervisory and/or fiscal):
Provide clinical field support for BDPI clinical studies to enable successful completion of study objectives and deliverables.
Ensure quality and consistency of clinical field support, ensuring that it meets the highest standards for scientific quality, integrity and ethics and is conducted in accordance with BD global clinical procedures, study protocols, GCP and all applicable regulations.
Serve as a product, procedure and clinical study protocol expert and resource for BD stakeholders, Investigators, and study site personnel.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with investigational site staff, hospital personnel, and cross-functional/divisional teams to support study deliverables and to identify key stakeholders that may facilitate commercial activities. Facilitate communication between clinical sites and BD stakeholders (e.g., CRA, PM, Contract Manager), as needed.
Develop and maintain knowledge of clinical sites in assigned territories.
Identify and assess Investigators interest and qualifications for ongoing or upcoming BDPI clinical studies as defined by study-specific requirements.
Proactively and critically examine ways to enhance overall clinical study performance and transfer clinical study knowledge and experience into meaningful input and feedback to cross-functional partners within Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, R&D, Marketing, commercial teams, and educational leaders.
Communicate BD product complaints and any issues that inhibit safe and effective use of BD products and negatively impact subject recruitment, data collection and study performance to BD stakeholders in accordance with established clinical study procedures and company policies.
Communicate field insights, medical/competitive intelligence and market trends that affect product development or corporate strategies/objectives to BD stakeholders in accordance with company policies.
Provide education and training as a subject matter expert (SME) to BD stakeholders and act as a resource in corporate product education as it relates to investigational products, as necessary, including the development and review of training materials, presentations, regional and national product launches, and commercial filed education.
Collaborate with and provide feedback to the BDPI study teams on the development of clinical study documents (e.g., clinical investigation plans, Investigator’s Brochures, IFUs, case report forms, patient recruitment materials, device training materials, etc.).
Seek opportunities to continue demonstrating and developing technical, research, and organizational leadership skills.
