About the role

The Business Analyst will report to the Sr. Director, Product and Strategy at Accruit. This position plays an important role within the Product Management team; key duties include managing the scrum/agile development process, writing user stories under the guidance/direction of Product Managers, acting as a first-point-of-contact to answer detailed questions from the Development Team, and supporting Product Management in a variety of other capacities. The role requires a depth of understanding of Accruit products and user needs - but is distinguished from a Product Manager role by being more focused on execution and operational excellence in support of the Product Management and Development teams, and by not being directly responsible for ownership of products or client areas. The expected career path for the Business Analyst is to progress into a Product Management role. 

  • Acts as a scrum master for the Product Management and Development teams, and/or splits scrum process responsibilities with a representative on the Development team 
  • Writes user stories under the guidance of Product Managers, and/or assists Product Managers with feature and user story writing 
  • Assists Product Managers in gathering and analyzing Voice-of-Customer information via analysis of usage data, gathering of notes from Sales and Customer Success, and discussions with end users of the products 
  • Conducts testing work on completed user stories in the UAT environment on behalf of the Product Management team – validating against acceptance criteria 
  • Maintains/updates important product management documentation, such as user story writing checklists 
  • Duties related to Azure DevOps “hygiene” – ensuring that stories are properly organized, tagged, etc. 
  • Triages submitted support tickets, allocating them to Customer Success, Product Management, or Development based on their substance, and monitoring/shepherding those owned by the latter two groups 
  • Assists Customer Success on customer support emails/calls, and conducts product training for Accruit employees as needed 
  • Collaborates with Customer Success in creating and updating customer-facing product guides and how-to materials 
  • Miscellaneous other administrative duties supporting the Product Management and Development teams 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience 
  • 3+ years of business analyst (BA) or product management (PM) experience pertaining to software and/or business information products 
  • Experience as a scrum master in the Agile/Scrum development methodology 
  • PM/BA experience in the financial services/real estate industry 
  • Scrum certification 
  • Limited coding experience, e.g. PYTHON 

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to develop and maintain a deep understanding of the needs of our customers, and how our products address them 
  • User story writing and experience with Agile management tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar 
  • User workflow diagramming and voice-of-customer information analysis,  
  • Proactive, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret data, identify trends, and draw actionable conclusions; able to propose resolutions and/or remediation to inefficient processes  
  • Proficient in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau), business intelligence platforms, and project management software and expertise in use of diagramming tools such as such as Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, Figma etc. 
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of product development processes and Agile methodologies
