Summary:
Tri Star Energy is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Divisional Controller, Wholesale to join our innovative Accounting team in our Store Support Center in Nashville TN. The Divisional Controller, Wholesale is is instrumental to the accounting and analysis for the company’s wholesale and retail fuel operations. This role will serve as a liaison between the wholesale and retail operations teams and the accounting and finance group to ensure that the accounting processes for wholesale and retail fuel operations are optimized and operated effectively to capture financial results.
The Divisional Controller, Wholesale will be responsible for all aspects of the accounting function for the company’s wholesale fuel business as well as all fuel activities in the company’s retail convenience store business. This position will oversee and manage the company’s fuel accounting, billing, and accounts receivable teams and be responsible for internal control oversight, operational accounting, billing and collections, month-end close management, financial reporting to internal stakeholders, and technical accounting support and guidance. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of fuel accounting principles and systems. This position will work closely with a team of professionals to maintain high-quality accounting practices and contribute to the overall success of Tri Star Energy’s wholesale fuel distribution business and retail fuel activities.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee a timely and accurate month-end close process for the company’s wholesale fuel business and retail fuel activities and prepare monthly operational results in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare and present monthly financial and operational analysis for the wholesale business and retail fuel activities to provide actional insights to management for decision-making purposes.
- Oversee the timely and accurate filing of all motor fuel excise tax returns across each state (approximately 20) and respective local jurisdictions the company operates in and ensure the company maintains compliance with the requirements of each state and local jurisdiction.
- Provide oversight of the company’s fuel accounting systems and ensure they are designed functioning properly to meet the company’s business objectives.
- Responsible for the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of proper policies, procedures, and internal controls for the wholesale fuel business and retail fuel activities.
- Conduct financial reviews and analysis monthly to support the company’s growth, profitability, and operational performance and identify, document, and resolve accounting and operational issues as they arise.
- Assist the Corporate Controller and FP&A department with formulating budgets, forecasts, and monthly variance analysis related to the wholesale fuel business and retail fuel activities.
- Interface with external auditors and regulatory professionals to support interim and year-end financial statement audits and tax audits.
