As a Maintenance Technician, you will:

Champion our integrity and environmental surroundings by providing customer service while exhibiting excellence through:

  • Campus Landscape and Environmental Management: Implement and maintain comprehensive landscape plans that support a therapeutic environment. Ensure grounds are well-maintained, safe, and aesthetically pleasing to enhance the overall client experience. Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to resolve site-specific challenges to ensure a functional, safe, and accessible campus. (Excellence)
  • Preventative Maintenance and Technical Repair: Perform preventative maintenance and repair on interior and exterior facilities including windows, doors, ceilings, flooring and roofing. Apply practices to sustain a healthy environment that supports the physical and emotional well-being of our clients. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations in maintaining campus grounds and facilities. Regularly inspect for, identify, and address potential hazards to create a secure environment for clients and staff. (Service)
  • Collaboration: Complete technical and maintenance projects independently and as part of a team that align with Heartspring's mission. Foster a collaborative work environment. (Leadership)
  • Client-Centered Environmental Adaptation: Work closely with therapists and educators to modify and adapt the physical environment to meet the specific needs of our clients. Develop and implement solutions that enhance the usability of campus spaces, ensuring they are accessible and supportive of therapeutic activities. Maintain open communication with staff and clients regarding maintenance activities and their impact on the campus environment. Build, perform maintenance and repair on devices and adaptive equipment to support client services meet adaptability and therapeutic needs. (Possibility)
  • Resource Management: Efficiently manage resources to maintain the campus grounds and facilities. Requirements

You are a great fit for this role if you have knowledge and abilities in:

  • Experience in construction and building trades with the use of hand tools, electric / motorized hand tools, and light equipment.
  • Grounds maintenance, including knowledge of horticultural practices, landscape design, and environmental management.
  • Technical skills in operating grounds and maintenance equipment, as well as performing structural and electrical repairs.
  • Effective listening skills with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills in a face-paced environment. 
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients, staff, and vendors.
  • Commitment to safety, dependability, and strong customer-centric approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and digital tools/platforms.


Education and Experience:

Maintenance Technician I Maintenance Technician II Maintenance Technician III

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Kansas driver's license and a good driving record are required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old due to the potential hazards of the position.
  • 6+ months’ experience in grounds and maintenance or related fields preferred. Maintenance Technician I requirements plus
  • 5+ years of experience in grounds maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and other mechanical systems in a healthcare environment. Maintenance Technician II requirements plus
  • 10+ years of experience in grounds maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and other mechanical systems in a healthcare environment.
