Job Description

At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

This role can be based in either San Francisco or Mountain View (South Bay).

Our GTM Horizontal Strategic Finance team is searching for a strategic and results-driven individual to partner closely with senior leaders across the Marketing Org. The vision is to provide strategic, financial, and operational insights to build, manage, and operate a world-class Marketing org. The team focuses on partnering directly with our CMSO (Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer) and her leadership team to build the right strategies that drive impact across the business, design the right organizational capabilities and operating models to drive efficiency in how we operate, drive financial and operating rigor to optimize and effectively use resources, and measure spend effectiveness and efficiency aligned with company-wide priorities. 

The role is highly cross-functional, indexing heavily on operational rigor and execution against financial priorities initially, and owning key strategic initiatives over time. The ideal candidate will:

  • Provide critical insights and recommendations on budget allocation & utilization during financial planning and in-quarter management
  • Solve highly complex ambiguous operational and strategic questions within LinkedIn’s Marketing team 
  • Has exceptional business acumen and the skills to operate autonomously to identify, prioritize, partner, influence and implement high-impact change against company-wide priorities

A strong candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of strategic insight, analytical rigor, and synthesized communication; and have experience with executive partnership, leading transformational initiatives, and team leadership that empowers and develops our talented employees.

Responsibilities: 

Strategic Thinking and Advanced Analytics

  • Deliver strategic projects for our Marketing leadership that provide key insights for high-priority initiatives
  • Conduct in-depth analysis across all aspects of marketing to develop deep understanding of key value drivers to identify improvement areas and opportunities.
  • Operationalizes ideas and develops plans for execution with some support from more senior team members. 
  • Validates and executes complex pressure testing of growth opportunities. 
  • Executes ad hoc analyses to prove/disprove hypotheses and address highly complex business questions, deriving actionable insights from results.
  • Learns to identify new opportunities for growth and supports strategy development with business partners.

Financial Management and Rigor 

  • Supports Marketing organization by performance managing, maintaining, and optimizing our marketing budget. Develops models, key metrics, and forecasts to maintain financial rigor, accuracy, and effectiveness.
  • Provides informal coaching and mentorship to junior team members working to forecast and analyze risks and opportunities in meeting targets. 

Execution & Organization 

  • Partners with cross-functional stakeholders to support the growth of initiatives by providing a metrics-oriented perspective, with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates with stakeholders to answer a wide variety of complex questions. 
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures to develop workstreams and operational processes
  • Proactively identifies obstacles and works to unblock them with minimal support.

Stakeholder Influence 

  • Communicates implications of work (e.g., forecasts, analyses, trends) to management and cross-functional stakeholders to drive action.  
  • Leverages insights and data to develop narratives to influence stakeholders with limited guidance.  
  • Synthesizes problems and communicates point of view to drive alignment and decision-making on issues within area of responsibility.
