Manufacturing Team Lead 2 – Job Description

Objective

Accurately assemble, integrate, and qualify complex ASML technical products for multiple systems/platforms in accordance with established requirements in a clean room environment, while meeting specifications of quality and timing aligning with agreed-upon customer demands.  Responsible for people development and performance within a team of direct reports.  Acts in line with the Leadership@ASML framework and role models ASML values of Challenge, Collaborate and Care.  Role models the right behaviors in line with Safety, LEAN, and Quality in manufacturing.

Working Relationships

Reports to:  Senior Team Leader 2, Manufacturing Assembly Operations

Collaborates with:  Group Leaders, Team Leaders, Technicians, Production Engineers and Internal and Cross-Functional teams within Manufacturing, Planning & Logistics, Operational Excellence, Design & Engineering and Customer Support

Accountabilities

Planning: Align with manager on a detailed daily production schedule, within the constraints of the Manufacturing Plan and available resources. Communicate among team and ensure progress and output to plan. Solve problems, Follow escalation protocol, provide recovery plans, and document and inform relevant parties on production and operational disturbances. 

Production: Personal contribution as well as team leadership and guidance toward the planned output of all deliverables.  Ensure that the level of knowledge and the training of the team members is sufficient to be able to realize all plans.  Ensure all barriers to the daily plan, quality and part issues are recorded and reported.  

Quality: Assume responsibility for self and direct reports of good quality in terms of team result and performance.  Assemble, integrate and qualify technical products in accordance with established requirements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of products and processes for self and direct reports. Observe and report about regular and/or on-going problems that occur in the assembly of products or their operation and collaborate with internal and cross-functional teams to provide support during the production process to their solution. Act as role model for Quality within department. 


Collaboration: Support collaboration throughout Production by: finding solutions and improving working concepts, giving input and feedback to team members, and supporting the execution of all tasks and a good working environment.

Management: Responsible for direct supervision of small technician team within the work center. Ensure accountability towards individual and team goals; encourage individual development items within teams. Responsible for Daily Performance Management including providing feedback and executing performance appraisals with support from leadership team in line with the Develop & Perform HR Calendar.  Instruct/train/mentor team members on work center processes and procedures, plan tasks, and set priorities.  Ensure proper and timely execution of all tasks.


Lean Manufacturing: Encourage incorporation of Lean Manufacturing concepts in the day to day operations.  Support and promote an environment that improves efficiency by using 5S techniques, Kaizen events, and Six Sigma concepts.  Facilitate continuous improvement and waste reduction efforts.

Communication: Good writing and verbal skills.  Able to express complex issues in simple terms.  Communicate daily with manager and direct reports as well as team members on the plan and the status at the start and end of the shift.

Education

Minimum of high school diploma required.  Higher Vocational Education in Technical Field and/or Bachelors is a plus.

Experience

Minimum of 3 – 5 years of hands-on technician experience

Prior supervisory/leadership experience a plus
Knowledge of Clean Room Work Center operations; Quality Assurance; and Improvement Techniques
Purposive, analytical, enterprising, flexible
Social skills to communicate at several levels, team builder, customer oriented 

Personal skills

A fast paced manufacturing environment that requires leaders willing to embrace new concepts. Must work comfortably in a manufacturing environment that utilizes Lean Manufacturing concepts and be able to coordinate with others for job accomplishment.  Must provide an accurate shift status in writing daily. Must have a working knowledge of the MS Office Suite.

Previous work within SAP is a plus.

Must be capable of working in a clean room environment.
