Portfolio Manager - Strategic Initiative & Value Management

Key responsibilities

 

The Portfolio Manager – Strategic Initiative & Value Management is accountable for governing large‑scale initiatives and steering strategic prioritization from annual planning through quarterly delivery. This role ensures decisions flow seamlessly into delivery teams, aligns resources and budgets, oversees risk management, and delivers executive‑level insights that drive value across all business areas and global functions.

 

As a Portfolio Manager, you are in charge of the following:

 

• Governance & Prioritization Framework: Establish and maintain the framework that evaluates and prioritizes large‑demand initiatives, ensuring alignment to strategic goals and optimal resource use.

• Strategic Portfolio Review Leadership: Lead Strategic Portfolio Review sessions to validate progress, resolve prioritization conflicts, and confirm decisions for the Portfolio Investment Committee.  

• Decision Cascade to Delivery: Translate governance decisions into clear priorities for delivery teams, ensuring Quarterly Business Reviews focus exclusively on approved, high‑value initiatives.
• Resource & Budget Alignment: Coordinate with resource managers and finance leads to confirm that funded and staffed resources match prioritized initiatives.
• Risk & Dependency Oversight: Maintain visibility of portfolio‑wide risks and dependencies; drive mitigation plans through governance forums.
• Executive Reporting & Insights: Present executive dashboards and reports (PowerBI, EasiBI, Jira, SAP, Wave) that communicate portfolio health, spend, and business outcomes. 
• Annual & Quarterly Planning Coordination: Collaborate with senior leadership in annual and quarterly planning to set and adjust portfolio priorities in alignment with strategic objectives. 
• Continuous Improvement: Embed SAFe 6 and Lean Portfolio Management best practices into governance and steering activities, continuously enhancing transparency, speed, and outcome focus. 
   

What you bring  

 

• 5+ years in roles governing and prioritizing large, cross‑functional portfolios at an executive level. 

• Deep expertise in program / portfolio management principles and governance frameworks; SAFe 6 Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) certification bonus. 

• Proven ability to interpret and present complex data in clear executive insights leveraging tools such as PowerBI, EasiBI, Jira, SAP, and Wave. 

• Demonstrated skill aligning business and IT leaders around strategic portfolio decisions.

• Strong track record managing cross‑initiative risks and dependencies through structured governance.       

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Business, IT, or related field.

• SAFe Lean Portfolio Management certification highly desirable

• Exceptional ability to convert data and governance outcomes into strategic actions.

• Experience leading executive governance forums and aligning stakeholders
