Your New Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Communications & Public Affairs Officer, the SVP, Government Affairs & Public Affairs is a senior leader responsible for shaping and executing the company’s government relations, public affairs, and regulatory engagement strategies globally. This role combines deep political insight, legal expertise, and communications savvy to influence public policy and protect the company’s interests across multiple jurisdictions. The leader will foster strong relationships with elected officials, regulatory agencies, industry groups, and community stakeholders to advance corporate priorities and reputation.
This position requires a visionary, strategic thinker who can navigate complex legislative and regulatory environments, anticipate policy trends, and lead high-impact advocacy initiatives. The ideal candidate inspires and develops a high-performing team, promotes collaboration across internal functions, and acts as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on government affairs and public policy matters.
Your Role Accountabilities
· Develop and execute comprehensive government affairs and public affairs strategies aligned with the company’s business goals and regulatory environment.
· Serve as the primary liaison and spokesperson with government officials, regulatory bodies, and key external stakeholders worldwide.
· Lead proactive advocacy efforts to influence legislation, regulations, and public policy impacting the entertainment and media industries.
· Oversee monitoring and analysis of political, legislative, and regulatory developments to advise business units on risks and opportunities.
· Build and maintain productive relationships with elected officials, government agencies, industry coalitions, and community leaders.
· Collaborate closely with corporate communications, legal, regulatory affairs, and corporate social responsibility teams to ensure consistent messaging and integrated strategies.
· Manage and mentor a high-performing government affairs and public affairs team, fostering a culture of inclusion, accountability, and professional growth.
· Represent the company at industry events, legislative hearings, and public forums as needed.
· Drive initiatives related to corporate social responsibility and public-private partnerships to support community engagement and sustainability goals.
Qualifications & Experience
15+ years of experience in government affairs, public affairs, or related roles within complex, regulated industries - preferably entertainment, media, or technology.
· Proven track record of successful legislative advocacy, regulatory engagement, and building influential relationships across local, state, federal, and international governments.
· Strong understanding of political, legal, and regulatory processes affecting the entertainment and media sector globally.
· Experience managing and developing multidisciplinary teams in high-stakes environments.
· Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across internal functions and with external partners to achieve business objectives.
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Law, Public Administration, Communications, or related field required.
· Advanced degree (Juris Doctor, Master of Public Administration, MBA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
