The Role:

As the Director of Pharmacy, you'll be the driving force behind optimizing our pharmacy operations to deliver exceptional patient care. Your role involves partnering with the service area pharmacy director and Executive Pharmacy Director to provide strategic oversight and management of our region's pharmacy services. You will lead comprehensive strategic planning, oversee the design and operation of pharmacy services, and ensure the highest standards in patient care.

What You'll Do:

  • Pharmacy Visionary: Oversee the procurement, storage, security, preparation, and distribution of medications, ensuring optimal pharmacy service related to medication administration and compliance with legal, regulatory, accreditation, and certification requirements.
  • Compliance Champion: Ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, codes, and standards of practice, directing pharmacy operations and services including budgeting, personnel management, clinical programs, formulary management, contract management, policy and procedure development, quality assurance, and accreditation compliance.
  • Leadership Architect: Demonstrate leadership by fostering high employee morale and engagement, supporting unity and change management, and maintaining effective communication with staff through meetings and other channels.
  • Strategic Collaborator: Work closely with physicians, nurses, vendors, and healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and safe medication use processes. Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to set yearly performance goals, budgets, programs offered, and development strategies.
  • System Leader: Participate in system, divisional, regional, and ministry committees to achieve organizational goals. Implement a well-defined pharmacy management structure and operating governance framework for executing strategies and initiatives.

What You'll Bring:

  • Educational Background: Master's Degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy.  PharmD, or equivalent education/experience preferred. Additional Master's degree (MPH, MBA) is advantageous.
  • Licensure and Experience: Washington Pharmacist License upon hire, with at least 3 years of pharmacy experience in the applicable area and 2 years of management experience minimum (5 years of experience is preferred).
  • Values and Ethics: Personal values and ethics aligned with those of Providence St. Joseph Health.
  • Operational Understanding: Profound understanding of pharmacy operations and services, with demonstrated skills in communication, team building, problem-solving, decision-making, innovation, and change management.
  • Clinical and Regulatory Expertise: Ability to develop and implement contemporary clinical and operational pharmacy services, with current knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards, including the 340B program requirements (where applicable).
