What’s the opportunity?
Zurich Insurance is currently looking for a Market Facing Underwriter/Underwriting Analyst for our Zurich Cover-More Accident & Health Division. This position will be ideally located in our home office location in Schaumburg, IL or at one of our regional offices. We will consider experienced candidates with remote locations as well.
The position will have technical and transactional responsibilities and will support senior level underwriters/business leads within our Accident and Health division in building, implementing, and fulfilling programs for our Affinity, Bank and Consumer distribution channels.
Our Underwriters are market-facing with objectives focused on profitable growth and superior service to our broker partners and customers.
What will you be doing?
- Generating, underwriting, and analyzing a suite of accident and health products
- Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to support underwriting processes, policy development, and system set-up for large, high-value client portfolios
- Providing technical support on program implementation – policy development, and setting up plans in Zurich systems
- Market facing, account servicing, and production activities within the A&H Division
- Complying with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
- Utilizing underwriting desktops, Salesforce, and various software tools to maintain accuracy and efficiency in data management and reporting
- Participating in regular team meetings and partner discussions, both internally and externally, to align on goals and streamline underwriting operations
- Building and nurturing relationships with external partners, including marketing and banking affiliates, to support the B2B2C consumer product initiatives
- Supporting legal, compliance, actuarial, and underwriting teams in ensuring policies and systems are in line with regulatory and business standards
- Managing operations and administrative tasks to ensure seamless workflow and effective project execution
What will you bring?
- Bachelor’s Degree with 1 or more years’ experience in the underwriting area, preferably Accident and Health or Affinity experience
- Knowledge of the insurance industry with an emphasis on underwriting processes and policy development and the ability to effectively assess risk
- Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, both in terms of collaborating with internal teams and interacting with external partners
- Experience with Salesforce, underwriting desktops, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), with a demonstrated ability to use these tools effectively in a remote environment
- Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiation
- A high level of customer service by meeting or exceeding broker and or customer expectations
- A proactive, results-oriented mindset, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- A self-starter mentality with a high leve
