Job Description
The Department of Chemistry at Norfolk State University invites applications for a 9-month tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The department is a part of the College of Science, Engineering and Technology and offers a diversity of options and tracks which lead to a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, visit https://www.nsu.edu/chemistry. We seek an accomplished teacher - scientist with a proven track record in teaching, grantsmanship and experience at an institution with a profile such as Norfolk State. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing NSU’s research environment and contribute to the overall growth and success of the Department’s plan for a new MS and PhD program. Review of Applications will begin January 25, 2026, and continue until the position is filled. The selected candidate will begin August 2026. This position opened on 1.12.26 and there is a five consecutive workday minimum posting requirement.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates will join a cohesive faculty in the Department of Chemistry and share responsibilities in the management and oversight of the department educational program offerings. Additionally, the successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities include teaching junior and senior level undergraduate lectures and laboratory courses, advise and mentor undergraduate students, contribute to grant-funded efforts, and participate in departmental activities related to current and planned initiatives in support of the Chemistry programs.
