Temporary Assistant Store Manager, Visual

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Store Manager (ASM), Visual in its' SoHo store located at 81 Spring Street, who upholds MoMA Retail’s standards, policies, and procedures and proactively connects to MoMA Retail and the Museum to support a holistic visitor experience. Assists with all aspects of running the store including but not limited to: opening and closing the store; ensuring proper safeguarding of MoMA’s staff, visitors, and assets; attending and contributing to Retail management meetings; and, participating in store partnership initiatives.
Exhibits and upholds the highest customer engagement standards which will play an integral role in achieving the stores sales and metric goals. Manages, develops, and trains the staff by ensuring a professional and positive presence on the sales floor and delivery of a knowledgeable, thoughtful, and inspiring customer service experience.
Responsibilities:
- Partners with the store management team to optimize business and reach sales goals.
- Coaches, develops, and empowers Selling Specialists and Sales Associates to do their jobs most effectively.
- Analyzes metrics, data, and reporting in order to identify trends, recommend new merchandising and sales approaches, and to address sales related opportunities and issues. Coaches staff on appropriate metrics/reports to use day-to-day to drive sales.
- Oversees and manages sales incentive initiatives.
- Collaborates with Assistant Store Management staff to ensure adequate coverage in the store.
- Initiates and coordinates strategies to maximize opportunities by increasing average transaction and conversion.
- Informs staff of daily, weekly, monthly goals for sales and customer engagement
- Maximizes use of all selling tools e.g., signage, systems, etc.
- Serves as liaison between store and Product Managers, along with ASM Sales
- Partners with selling specialists and sales team on visual-related projects, including new product presentation, ensuring processes are followed and knowledge consistently shared across the team to optimize sales; developing and/or maintaining fixture displays with the goal of increasing sales, average transaction, and conversion; and, ensuring fixtures and all signage are maintained to standard. Serves as store lead for all floor/fixture changes and frequently partners with the Store Visual Manager, Director of Merchandising, and Senior ASM, Visual.
- Coordinates all in-store setups surrounding special events and promotions.
- Collaborates with Assistant Store Manager, Operations to ensure aesthetic standards.
- Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and a minimum five years experience in retail sales management, including experience managing a staff.
- Strong organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Very high-level customer service orientation.
- Organized, detail oriented with superb time management skills.
- Proactive self–starter who exhibits initiative and leadership.
- Proficiency with POS, Word, Excel, Order Entry and Contact Management.
Salary: The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000.
